Consistency. Whether just showing up or being consistent while working on something specific. I tend to work on something for a few weeks and move on, without getting really solid in the area.ย

Self-discipline for both jiu-jitsu and life. I continually struggle with the discipline it takes to "master" anything. Poor training / practice habits, diet, patience. It is easy to get motivated but the discipline is what matters.

I think top side. I thought I understood the concept of pressure until I took a private with Octavio Couto (RIP) and he opened my eyes to what control really means. So, with what I already knew and the amazing concepts Octavio taught me top side is where I am most comfortable and can move with confidence.ย

I wouldn't change a thing. If I started earlier all my experiences would be different and things might not have worked out the way they have.

I always get the stereotypical responses, but one in particular for me is, "Aren't you too old for that". Then there are the usual, "My kid just got their black belt in TKD", or "Is that like karate?" I do sometimes get, "Wow you must be able to handle yourself".

I can't wait to hear everyone's comments on the first and last responses I posted.
