This week advanced gi continues from our single leg x, ashi or ashi garami position shifting focus from the straight ankle lock to the aoki lock.

This particular attack has become one of my favorite for the lower body as it can be applied when our partners attempt to utilize several common defenses for the straight ankle lock.

Gary Pond fair point!

I've heard left over coffee added to dark gis also kills bacteria due to the pH. Never tested it.

Gary Pond why do you publicly asked to be wristy locked? 🤣

I think I inadvertently have done this. Normally, I'm looking for specific techniques and looking back the instructors I have gravitated toward are normally similar in body type. I think the times when they aren't similar, I'm seeking them out for their knowledge on the topic.

Haha I feel like we all have had this happen. You haven't been training long enough if it hasn't.

Laundry, there are memes about how much laundry jiu jitsu generates. Especially for newer people to jiu jitsu, what tips can you offer  to help avoid being the stinky person?

-Always wash your stuff, don't try to re-ware it

-Adding vinegar along with detergent helps kill bacteria that will cause smells

-Washing on cold and hang drying helps prevents gis from shrinking

-Laying gis out in the out in the sun to dry lets the natural UV light kill ordor causing bacteria, and gives your gi that really nice rough texture your partners will love you for 🤣

-If you can't wash your stuff right away, hang it, don't bunch it up or leave it in the bag

What else can you share?

No advanced gi this week due to Prof Adam's workshop. He always has something great whenever he comes. Don't miss it!
