I would rather have control. As I learned as a white belt from you Mark. How important it is to be in and stay in control. I felt so helpless as my defenses were dismantled and I was stuck. Also a very good reason why I still am pursuing my BB. But as Prof. has always said. Submissions show up while you’re in control. DECA is a real thing. I tried to disprove it. Trust me.

Honestly, I believe you need them both and add a touch of awareness. It’s a triad of sorts all are necessary. Some would say speed and I would say sure. But if you’re not aware you can’t see. So what’s the point of going fast. However strength is great but if you’re not flexible. Is a recipe for disaster/injury. A dash of all three is my answer.

Exciting week, Guillotines from standing and in guard and it’s a 2 stripe WBMK the Tackle defense. Besides that we have the triangle what’s there not to like? It’s an all choke first half of the week. Come on by and choke and be choked.

I feel the same giving up my back isn’t a bad thing or going into 1/2.

On Thursday we have the scissor sweep. One of the most fundamental sweeps of all sweeps. Where the key is loading our partners for the scissoring legs. And the single take down from clinch. Both are 3 stripes, on the WBMK.

What’s up everyone. Yes I do even if I don’t train I bring my gi. Have gi will travel. I always like to see how other people train and to gauge where I’m kind of at.

This week we will be working hard, exploring the single leg take down and a couple of excellent sweeps. It will be an awesome week. Along the way we will be focusing on our WBMK techniques. Making them smooth and effective.

Great time in Fundamentals this week we’ll be sweeping, opening, or retaining guard. We have two WBMK at the beginning and the end of the week. Stop on by and sharpen your skills.

Working on the finer things. What constitutes a frame, cleaner submission, sort of bullet proof what I can allowing for 2 alternatives if possible. Building technique all the way to the submission promised land.

I would say, don’t give up. Keep pushing. It’s a long journey, enjoy every minute on the mat. Control is more important than the submission. It takes time be patient.
