This week we continue to quickly build new skills as we refine the fundamentals. We will be sharpening our straight punches - simultaneously striking while defending, then adding in movement. We will turn the intensity up on our kicks - moving from striking the leg to the body, then adding in our 2-Punch series on the Thai pads. Then we will wrap up with the Two-Thirty combo drill - training ourselves to use straight punches to set up curved shots for the knockout!

We’re also sharpening our Numbers System—combos 1 through 4. These combos build timing, accuracy, and flow so students can react without thinking. The better your numbers, the better your striking foundation. Osu!

This week we’re drilling the Bas Combo—named after Bas Rutten, a legendary Dutch kickboxer and UFC heavyweight champion. Bas was famous for his powerful body shots, liver kicks, and smooth combinations. He helped shape modern MMA striking and proved that clean technique can beat brute strength. When you throw this combo, you’re training like a world champion.

My goal is for the technique to feel natural - whether that means to do the move 100x or 10,000x. When you focus on "feel" you are forced to perform in the moment. I stopped thinking about tracking and just think about showing up.
