Technically speaking watching my opponent and their reactions to my movements was key. Taking posts away and what that means to my future movements or game plan was significant. Lastly understanding levers and gravity meant a ton as far as a principles go.

Honestly, we have to have the understanding that technique and feedback have to be the number one priority. For a thinking art there has to be communication for it to be effective. Learning happens with repetitions and a patient partner.  Choose wisely grasshopper. OSS…

My noise canceling brain goes into effect in open mat. Only because I like what I have to say and not out loud. But when I do listen… I enjoy my volume up and a high tempo alternative, and old school rock.

I have to say that I would go for pedigree of the video. Like Professors Thomas and Gracie. However nothing glitzy or fancy but basic bits and bolts type stuff. Something geared toward my body type, age, and skill level most of all.

Myself I funnel my diet, film work, and demonstrations over the course of a week. To do this I meal prep, watch films for the week from fundamentals. Develop exercises around the film study, get reps and take notes, with questions for the Professor. With some weight training sprinkled in there.
