We all learn from our instructors and coaches, but occasionally, we attend a class or seminar with a guest instructor who completely changes our perspective.

What was the most significant takeaway from a seminar or class youโ€™ve attended in the past?

Soooo many are coming to my mind, but I will mention two, that really made an impact on me.ย

First, "never be flat on your back" I don't remember where I got it from, but it was impeded into my mind early on and stuck with me to this day.

Second, "they can't smash you if you are on top", this one I credit to Master Carlson Gracie Sr.

Continuing with Guard position this week in the Interm class, however we will explore lapel traps and attacks. There is nothing better than submitting your partner with their own clothing ๐Ÿ˜‚ย

Do you find yourself reacting to your partners attacks OR do you take more of a proactive approach?

I love Drop Seoi Nage, not only the set up allows me to be in full control, but also the element of surprise is quite large, which raises the success rate. Dropping in between my partners knees, allow gravity to pull up forward, and I guess my part of no choice but simply fall to the ground.ย

What's the video for details or if you want to see Gary Pond without a beardย
