I like when we have an agreement to explore new techniques (usually found on social media) that go along with what’s happening in class. We each try out the off topic technique and give our thoughts and feedback on it. It helps expand our arsenal without getting completely off topic.

A nice takedown and two very effective Mount Escapes this week. Great opportunity to strength your fundamentals!

No one likes to be at the bottom of mount. Make sure you have a few escapes to help get you out. If you don’t, come to class this week!

7 days a week sounds good, but I don’t think that would be personally sustainable. 4-5 would be the perfect amount for me, those 2 days off give an opportunity to reflect on past days training and makes me look forward to the next day on the mat. Avoid any burnout!

This week in All Levels we are starting over with our guard fundamentals. A very important week to drop in!

Also, this Saturday I’ll be covering a Mount Attacks work shop. If you’re free this weekend, make sure to come check it out!

This Tuesday in All Levels we are going to be looking at several Kimura variations from side control. It’s going to be a good one!

If I see something on IG, I save it and sit on it for a while contemplating how realistic it is. If I think it could work I just try it in open mat or with a complaint partner to see if it still holds up.

As far as instructors, I typically shade towards the big names that I recognize and I know they’ve had success at the highest level. If it’s working there, should hopefully work for me!

Typically I try not to lift and train jiu jitsu on the same day to ensure I’m physically prepared for whichever training I’m doing that day. Mentally, I try to pick a video or two to watch that week and try to hit that move whether it’s in class or in open mat.

One of the most utilized submissions is the Rear Naked Choke. Come check out why it’s so effective!
