Looking forward to covering some Single Leg Defense and how we can generate our own offense from that position. It’ll be fun!

I like watching grappling matches or UFC fights to see what the high level guys are doing. If they can get it to work on other high level guys, then there must be some value there.

Self defense. As we see in the UFC, sport jiu jitsu doesn’t carry over well as the effectiveness of many positions drastically change when strikes are introduced. Get on top, stay on top. Simple jiu jitsu.

My system has changed several times over my time on the mat but i would say one factor has remained consistent, I try to keep it as simple and realistic as possible. Berimbolo and some of these different types of guards are really fun to play with, but if you really got into an altercation they’re not always gonna yield the best results. Simple is king!

I would try to do only the techniques of the day when it comes to open mat/ positional training. Don’t just stick with what’s comfortable, force myself to work on those techniques I’m not successful with

I was out the past two weeks but I’m excited to be back! This week in No Gi we are going to be exploring the Tai Otoshi as our takedown focus and then we will be looking at some passes from the top half guard position. It’s going to be a great week!

In NoGi we’re going to be working with the Tani Otoshi from the standup position and then will be working on a few passes from half guard!
