Advanced gi will be starting our closed guard block. Probably my favorite position of all so I'm very excited to share.

This week we will be looking at scissor sweeps and getting plenty of reps. Even a slight modification that work great in gi but lets you apply the scissor sweep to no gi too!

If that wasn't enough, we'll look at my favorite counter to the sweep, an ankle lock.

It'll be a great night🔥

I think especially in the beginning it is more physically challenging for most people if we acknowledge that it may feel like an information overload at first. For so many of us we have no background in wrestling or anything related making many of the movements feel foreign to us. This is something I always stress to people trying a class or just starting, give it 3 to 6 months and it no longer feels so foreign.

As we continue on our journey, I've found the mental part becomes more challenging as we trouble shoot or try to guide our partners movements to set up certain techniques.

No advanced gi this week due to the holiday but July and August will start our focus on closed guard.

Definitely feeling inspired with some new ideas after this weekends Seminar with Prof Rob Miller! Probably should come to see what I've got in store!

This will be our final week in the guard passing block.

Having issues? Need to refine something? This is your week!

Bring the problems you've been working on and let's solve them!

And make sure to come back next week to see what's happening for July and August.

It may not always be pretty on one side, but drilling it on the other is always good should an injury pop up.

Advanced gi will continue our work on passes.

Ever attempt a toreando pass but can't quite clear both legs? If you show up on Wednesday you'll have a plan B or maybe Plan A if you like ankle locks!

Advanced gi will wrap up our Craig Jones inspired passes with a quick over and plenty of opportunities to drill.

Let's fill the mats Wednesday night so we have plenty of body types to work with!
